If you have been checking
in vain for information on An Cridhe, please
accept our apologies. A horrible server problem
has
kept the site down for several weeks.
You will start to see
information about the project again. Thank you
for your patience.

From the June Bulletin:
-
A site investigation was carried
out by Aitkin engineers in the
last week of May. Although the
full written report has not been
received, initial verbal reports
confirmed that all is as
expected.
-
Following interviews in early
June, Fra was appointed as book
keeper and Emma was appointed as
Project Manager.
-
The second Project Board Meeting
was held on Thursday 16th June.
Various management strategies
were put in place.
-
A User group has been formed to
give the community a voice on
the Project Board. Currently Nic
Smith and Alison Fraser are
representing island groups and
island businesses respectively.
-
Workshops are planned on the 6th
July for the final round of
detail design consultation
before going to tender. Please
look out for personal letters
inviting you to participate and
also inviting you to join the
User group.
-
The An Cridhe web site is
currently unavailable. A revised
web site showing progress on the
capital build project is being
devised.
From the April Newsletter:
Funding
It is taking longer than
expected to tie up funding agreements and
release money. Funders are, quite rightly, being
cautious and seeking to ascertain that we have a
full funding package in place; that we have
appropriate measures in place to handle cash
flow issues; and that the building will be
sustainable in the long term future. The outcome
of the last Lottery Committee meeting was
extremely positive with the project receiving
their full endorsement. We are now sorting out
paperwork for our first receipt of funding!
Next Steps
While finalising the funding,
we are also working hard to set up project
management systems for the building project
itself. We are being guided by a
tried-and-tested project management strategy
called 'Prince2' (see below). This work includes
setting up a "Users Group" to help manage the
project. The users group is intended to be
representative of all potential users for An
Cridhe. Part of the next step is to contact
representatives of Coll groups to seek approval
for the latest designs, which have been
generated over 4 years' of community
consultation. At this stage, the floor-plan
can’t change, but we need to make sure that we
have the smaller details correct, such as
appropriate storage or access to the kitchen. A
temporary users group has been formed in order
to make progress. Invitations to join the user
group will be issued at the same time as the
designs are circulated. The temporary user group
consists of:
The An Cridhe working group,
whose main aim was to fundraise for the project,
has been disbanded. Many thanks to all those
involved for the time, effort and energy which
has got us to where we are today.
